This video shows just how devastating Hurricane Sandy was to the Rockaways. Hearing a first hand account of what it was like just 2 days after the storm had passed is absolutely chilling. After being in NY the year before during Hurricane Irene it was hard for me to think that this storm would do actual damage. Unfortunately Irene only made people feel a false sense of security and the result was shocking as Sandy tore through the Northeast.

As she says in the recording, they want and need people to hear about this and begin to help. This goes for most of the New Jersey and New York coastal areas. If you are close- volunteer, if you are far-( like me) help by sending food, clothing or money donations. The American Red Cross is a great place to start.
