Summer Beach at Amelia Island has been home to many of our family reunions and vacations, and we were lucky to visit it again this past week. Rather than our extended “Regas-Demmas” reunions where we take over most of the property, our immediate family of ten quietly enjoyed our time (as quiet as we can be) and had a wonderful trip together.
The week was filled with beach and pool time, dinners and stories (most that we have heard a thousand times but never tire of), and home cooked meals with the ocean in the background. Some of my favorite moments included a morning yoga session with my mom on the beach, hearing Walt’s infectious laugh every time he was in the ocean, having a great low country boil with friends and family and celebrating Mom’O’s 93rd birthday with her. I think I can speak for everyone and say that the sunset cruise around Cumberland Island was truly unforgettable! Being out on the water with our picnic of cheese and wine, simple but fun live music, and seeing wild horses on Cumberland all with the backdrop of one of the prettiest sunsets I have seen.
We all really missed having Zoe, Tyler, and Cliff with us and we can’t wait for a complete Camp Regas soon! If we are lucky we might be able to make it a true Regas-Demmas reunion with the whole clan for 2014!
Wonderful post and pics … Sad that we weren’t there and not part of the listed “missed folks”,,, haha … No problemo!! We are up in northern Ca ..Santa Rosa first as we lost Peter’s brother last week and the off to Fort Bragg for sea glass hunting and then down the coast to Sea Ranch for a few nights … What an amazing coast … Just been too long since we have been here!
Miss you all so much!!
